The first split release between two Plymouth indie labels onec and UPR Records is The Rooftop Gambler 'Turned Out The Light', a four track EP on 10" yellow vinyl limited to 300 copies. Think Firehose recorded by Steve Albini, and if that sounds like too much of a flight of the imagination then be prepared for even more adventures off the beaten track offered by The Rooftop Gambler. With stories that are magically wistful and intriguing, it's like a heavenly slumber party under the influence of a full moon. Surprising. Not least when you learn that the sonorous tone and almost hypnotic musical and vocal cadences that create the sumptuous sound of these four tracks are created by a band that hails from a heavy punk rock background – this EP is like discovering the poetic beauty of the beast.
