The Light Streams formed in 2009 through a series of late night meetings of minds, each member being invited into the fray well into the night; the band then sought to seek a daytime arrangement that worked as well. Towards the end of the year the band went into the studio with Andy Hawkins (Pigeon Detectives/Cribs) and recorded their debut ep, 'The Lost EP'.
What followed was a flurry of invites to play festivals alongside such indie high-fliers as The Zutons, Noah & the Whale, Idlewild, Wild Beasts, and Mumford & Sons after just a handful of gigs and requests from all over the country for early copies as word spread.
Incorporating a varied range of musical influences, ranging from Irish folk to jaunty Beatles-esque psychedelia, from adrenaline-charged punk to melodic balladry, the end result is unmistakeably playful, poppy and laden with catchy hooks, that have had the town that has given birth to such acts as Kaiser Chiefs and The Long Blondes all in a fuss.
