Irish Singer/Songwriter Maria Byrne grew up in Cork and began her musical journey enjoying Americana, Country and Folk music as a teenager. Maria still cites inspiration from legends Johnny Cash, Gillian Welch and John Prine.
In 2008, she made the move from Cork to London, writing & releasing her debut EP 'All You Need' 2 years later. This was followed in 2012 with LP 'Little Basement' and a mini album 'Back To You' in 2014.
Maria's collection of uniquely phrased lyrics and infectious melodies were first noticed by BBC 6 Music presenter Tom Robinson who showcased her talent via BBC Introducing in 2010. In quick succession, she was invited to perform live sessions with Janice Long on BBC Radio 2 and John Kennedy on XFM. Maria's songs then made their way to national radio coverage thanks to Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2, Huw Stephens/Rob Da Bank on BBC Radio 1 and Alison Curtis on Today FM.
Maria's live show credits include sell-out St. Patricks Day Hootenanny gigs in The Roundhouse Camden, Honeyfest, Country 2 Country 2014 alongside Brad Paisley and The Dixie Chicks at the O2 Arena and a sold-out London show supporting The Lost Brothers in November 2014.
Her song 'All You Need' featured on 2012 Ray Winstone hit movie 'The Hot Potato'. Maria also recorded a cover of 'Two Hearts' by Phil Collins which KFC used in a UK TV commercial campaign and in 2018 her cover of Genesis hit 'Follow You Follow Me' has been used on a national Bank of Ireland campaign.
With a slightly different twist Maria is back with her newest folk pop single 'Sleep' which will be released on 16th October 2020.
