Pocket-sized Welsh singer-songwriter Rees joins forces with producer and songwriter Mark Rutherford on her debut Welsh single, Seren Wen.
The first release on their new label Rees Records, Seren Wen is sung in Welsh. A version sung in English will be released shortly.
Rees walked into Rutherford's studio fresh out of the Royal Academy of Music and sang one of her own songs a cappella to him. The No.1 selling composer, who has worked with the likes of Peter Gabriel, William Orbit, Mike Oldfield, Steve Levine and Goldie, offered her a writing partnership on the spot.
Rees and Rutherford's style of music evokes Carole King mixed with the heart and vulnerability of Cerys Matthews, the unique quirkiness of Kate Bush, and Bjork.
Seren Wen is a song about transitioning through tough life journeys, remembering to keep love in your heart no matter what.
