Biog

The Bara Bara Band is an alt-folk quartet drawing promiscuously on old-time Americana, country and 60s psych, as well as soaking up the influences of traditional English folk music. Like a tapestry woven from silk and thorns, the result is a by turns cheery, by turns dark cacophony of beautifully hand-crafted songs.
Not The Last Act EP is the second release of The Bara Bara Band. Come Ye Forth, the opening track, is a melodrama about love and lust in a time of war, which Ruth wrote whilst living with circus performers in Lower Haight, San Francisco. The title track, Not The Last Act, is The Bara Bara Band's floor-filler. What Do You Believe In? Is a bitter-sweet journey through a land of fairies and pixies and heartache and woe. And the closing track Medusa presents the infamous Gorgoness as you have never seen her before: in a Stetson and spurs.
