PIG sees it's first release from Detroit pop kings, Jamaican Queens. Whilst making weird, creepy videos that reflect their life in Detroit, their music is reminiscent of early 80s Bowie and first album Animal Collective.
Kids Get Away is the first single taken from their debut album Wormfood. Jamaican Queens are from Detroit, and fronted by Ryan Spencer who has this to say about the band:
My friend Adam and I started this band about 9 months ago. We live in Detroit, and don't have jobs, which makes it very easy to spend a lot of time on music. We wrote and recorded all of our songs in Adam's bedroom. Most of my lyrics are about my trouble
accepting or believing in love. I try to escape reality as much as possible thru the use of psychedelics or MDMA. This will probably affect my psyche very much later in life. I've been trying to see a therapist lately, but since my car got stolen its hard to get to a doctor. When my most recent relationship ended, I decided to focus all of my attention on music, because relationships just give me anxiety. Adam has 1 cat named popcorn, and 2 lesbian mothers. I have no animals because I am allergic. My parents are straight and Christian. They lecture me about being an atheist quite often. Ryan Clancy plays drums for us and used to live in china. I think he may be a nihilist. I mainly listen to rap music, but the lyricist I relate most to is Morrissey. I hope he doesn't die, though it seems like he probably will quite soon. :)
