Jakokoyak is one man band Rhys Edwards from North Wales, who writes, performs and produces all his own songs. The buzz around Jakokoyak has been building for some time. He first appeared on Boobytrap's celebrated electronica compilation 'Steps In The Left Direction', before releasing the award winning album 'Am Cyfan Dy Pethau Prydferth' on Cardiff's Peski Records, and the album has now sold out.
The Jakokoyak sound proved a success in the Japanese market as well, after Tokyo based record label, Macaroni Records, released the album there. His popularity in the land of the rising sun proved such, that he supported the Super Furry Animals on their tour dates at the end of 2005.
He returns with the much anticipated 'Flatyre EP', already a favourite with Huw Stephens' One Music Show. Piecing his music together on lo-fi equipment, Edwards takes up tools including guitar, keyboard, melodica, and vibraphone to create haunting, rain-smudged song sketches that for all their lightness of touch, leave an unmistakable imprint on the memory.
