18 x Again/ To The Knife is from The Kull's epic debut album, Transference.
You could argue about which track should be representing the 'A-side'.
Should it be 18 x Again, with its immediate guitar/bass hook and blinding melody that builds to an exuberant, ecstatic finale of guitar effects and huge vocal? Played live, this track leaves the audience fascinated and creates a new fan base wherever they play.
Or should it be 'To the knife', a more obvious pop song with a slightly dark edge? The journey-like rhythm and the confusing optimistic tone combined with the contemplative vocals. On this track, Shipley's voice gives the song a unique and captivating edge that makes you want to hear the song again and again.
This single is a true refection of the Kull in their time, in their own words. It is an amazing sign off to the debut.
