A: Man With The Gun
From the moment they first took to a dusty Australian stage in early 2005, The Valentinos offered more than meets the eye. Behind the fashionable aesthetics and manic demeanour stands a band intent on forging original ground, a skittering s**tstorm of punk fury, disco beats and psychedelic excursions, the sonic invention of M83, Can and David Sylvian melding with the panty-poking fun of Wham! and The Human League.
Their first single, the noirish and anthemic “Man With The Gun”, immediately achieved high rotation on Triple J and earned the band a featured spot on the station’s Next Crop segment.
The equally urgent maniacal ramblings of “CCTV” takes them to another level of pop rock in the tight-panted indie quarters and cements their place as a band to watch for the future.
After a dream 2006 THE VALENTINOS will step into their own spotlight to headline an Australian National tour with support from hip UK indie duo JOHNNY BOY and are set to send the party meter into the red.
Their growing international reputation has been fuelled by stellar reviews, international releases and an International Management deal with Metrobass (stable mates Digitalism recently toured Australia with fellow hipsters THE PRESETS).
