A1 Bassline is the work of Christian Sibthorpe, a producer from South London, and the bassline/ electro tracks he made with local singer Saffie. ‘Girl Thing EP’ is the third release by independent London label Meal Deal Records- whose last release by 'the loudest band in New York' Brooklyn shoegazers A Place To Bury Strangers sold out in a matter of hours also managing to break one of the last 10" presses in the UK in the process .
Girl Thing EP’ has been a regular in the record boxes of djs ranging from Diplo to Santogold’s. tour dj Martelo, Sinden, Steve Aoki, Foamo, Guns And Bombs. Meanwhile – A1 Bassline’s monthly mixtape’s, given away free on his myspace page, are downloaded just under 10,000 times. When Meal Deal put the parts for A1 Bassline’s ‘Girl Thing’ up on their blog for a remix competition they were downloaded 2,000 times – with the blogs buzzing over myriad different versions.
